Montage Partners Invests in Craft Beverage Cooperative™
SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Montage Partners, a people-first private equity firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is pleased to announce its investment to capitalize the Craft Beverage CooperativeTM (CBC), in partnership with CEO John Reynolds. CBC closed its investment in Moab Brewery in November 2019.
CBC was created to provide successful craft breweries and distilleries with the resources needed to support the production capacity, infrastructure, and world-class sales and marketing necessary to grow leading brands, while preserving each producer’s autonomy, authenticity and dedication to their local community. With backing from Montage Partners, CBC will make additional investments in leading craft breweries and distilleries across the Western U.S.
“The craft beer industry has changed significantly over the past five years, and the craft spirits industry is evolving along a similar path,” said Montage Partners’ co-Managing Partner, Jordan Tate. “We’re thrilled to partner with John Reynolds to support Craft Beverage Cooperative. CBC presents a great option for successful craft beer and craft spirits producers seeking liquidity and the resources necessary to accelerate growth amidst a highly competitive market, while preserving the independence and authenticity that makes their brands special. Moab is a special place and Moab Brewery is a great example of a truly authentic producer dedicated to making great beverages.”
Founded in 1996 and based in Moab, Utah, Moab Brewery has won more than 45 craft beer medals and 3 distilled spirits medals and produces Utah’s #1 craft beer, Johnny’s American IPA. As with each brand that joins CBC, Moab Brewery’s existing management and brewing team will continue to lead the company.
“The team at Moab Brewery has created a special culture and even better beer over the company’s two-decade existence, and their passion for their craft and the town of Moab is evident. I’m excited to partner with Moab and other like-minded brewers and distillers through Craft Beverage Cooperative,” said Reynolds. “CBC allows local breweries and distilleries to access shared resources and improve operational constraints in order to extend their reach to more happy beer drinkers – all without losing sight of what makes each brand unique.”
